ONGOING PROJECTS
-
city to city exchange
City to City is a collaborative project initiated by the UNESCO Media Arts Cities of Austin (USA), Braga (Portugal), Cali (Colombia), Changsha (China), Dakar (Senegal), Enghien-les-Bains (France), Guadalajara (Mexico), Gwangju (South Korea), Karlsruhe (Germany), Košice (Slovakia), Sapporo (Japan), Toronto (Canada), Viborg (Denmark), and York (United Kingdom). The project reflects a shared commitment to creative cooperation, using media arts as a powerful tool for cultural exchange, resilience, and sustainable development in a rapidly changing world.
-
artist collaborations
As the only UNESCO City of Media Arts in the United States, Austin champions collaborations at the intersection of technology, creativity, and cultural exchange. Through global partnerships, artist exchanges, and cross-cultural projects, Austin fosters dialogue and innovation with fellow UNESCO Media Arts Cities. Ongoing and future initiatives aim to integrate emerging technologies like AI and AR into media arts practice, while creating platforms that amplify diverse and underrepresented voices within the global creative community.
-
international meetings
UNESCO Media Arts Austin actively participates in global gatherings that bring together creative cities from around the world. Through annual UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) conferences and other international forums, Austin joins global leaders in sharing ideas, best practices, and collaborative projects that shape the future of media arts. These meetings provide vital opportunities to exchange knowledge, build cross-cultural partnerships, and position Austin’s creative community on the world stage.
